Asda teams up with Deliveroo to provide on-demand groceries

// Asda and Deliveroo launch rapid grocery delivery from 15 stores
// The new service will be offered alongside the grocer’s existing Uber Eats partnership

Asda and Deliveroo have launched a new partnership for the rapid delivery of groceries, with a roll-out launching across 15 stores.

Beginning this month with Wakefield, Leeds and Manchester among the first cities for the rollout, households can choose from over 2,400 products from the Asda range and have them delivered to their door in minutes by Deliveroo’s network of riders

The supermarket plans to launch 300 stores on the Deliveroo platform by the end of the year and the service will be offered alongside Uber Eats Asda grocery delivery, with both available at some stores.

It comes after an explosion of rapid grocery start-ups onto the market in recent years, including Getir and Gorillas.

Asda senior vice president of ecommerce Simon Gregg said: “We want to create more opportunities to conveniently shop favourite Asda products and offer the broadest range of delivery options of any grocer, giving customers the flexibility to choose how and when they shop with us.

“Our partnership with Deliveroo will extend this further, as Asda customers across the UK will soon be able to get products delivered in as little as 30 minutes.”

Deliveroo director of Grocery UK&I Georgie Williams said: “Asda offers great value for money and we’re delighted that Deliveroo customers can shop from a huge range of products, bringing even more choice to families and households across the UK.”
